The St. Louis Cardinals positioned late-inning reliever Ryan Helsley on the 15-day injured record Monday with a strained proper forearm
The transfer is retroactive to Saturday. In a corresponding transaction, the Playing cards recalled fellow right-hander Jake Woodford from Triple-A Memphis.
Helsley, 28, is 3-4 with a 3.24 ERA and 7 saves in 22 reduction appearances this season. Giovanny Gallegos has a team-leading eight saves.
Woodford, 26, is 1-2 with a 5.40 ERA in seven video games (six begins) for the Cardinals this season
